Map Dimensions Layer

When selecting the "Map Dimensions" layer on the map, the parcel map is annotated with the dimensions of the parcel boundaries as displayed on the map. It is important to note that these dimensions are not official survey dimensions and should only be used as an estimate of legally defined dimensions for a property. If you believe the dimensions show are incorrect, here are a few things to remember:

  • The parcel outlines as rendered are provided by the local county GIS departments and the quality may vary according to the specifications used by the local government agency in charge of creating the data
  • Frequently the drawn parcels reflect easements or insets for boulevards, sidewalks, or other modifications that may reduce the shown size compared to the surveyed dimensions.
  • The measurements displayed maybe be broken into two or more parts on curves or lengths that are not straight. Shorter segments (especially on curved portions) may not render because there is not enough room to render the text for that segment. This may lead to confusion and if you you need to have a complete set of dimensions, you can use the measure tool to create your own dimensions for a property.

If you still believe that there is an issue with the dimensions being displayed, please contact us with the location of the area that you are seeing incorrect results and we will review map to see if something needs to be corrected.
