Suggested Search - Opportunity Zone

IMAPP includes a series of Suggested Searches to help you get started with some common tasks and learn how searching can work. When you click on the "Opportunity Zone" suggested search, the fields of the search page will reload with some search fields populated.

This will search within all property records in a selected county that are in areas of "Opportunity Zones". An "Opportunity Zone" is part of a federal income tax incentive zone, which allows for reduction in income taxes on properties purchased, to encourage investment in underserved areas. Note: contact a tax professional to determine applicability of any tax incentives before investing. This is an example of a search real estate professionals could use to prospect for business to help investors who want to work with those tax breaks.

The default settings will show "Opportunity Zone" matching "Yes - In Opportunity Zone". This is the main Opportunity Zone filter. This particular search also includes "Unoccupied Address equal to "Yes", which indicates properties that do not appear to be currently occupied. This is an optional criteria, but indicates which properties are most likely to be available for redevelopment.

The search interface is highly customizable. You can also choose alternate "Property Location" regions, draw a your own geographic shape on the reference map, or add other filters by filling in more lines or selecting other fields from the search fields list. Each additional item you add further focuses the results to just what you want. You can also remove some lines from consideration by deleting whatever is in the "Search Value" for that line.

You can click "Start Search" to do the search as prepared. This search will find all properties in a county that are in Opportunity Zone and seem to be vacant. From the results of this search, you can download data for matching properties or create mailing labels to contact the property owners.
