Map Navigation Overview

Video Map Navigation Examples:

Most maps in iMapp allow for a variety of ways of zooming, panning, or 3D perspective shifting. On most screens there is a navigation menu in the upper left of the map, marked with +, - and ^ buttons. The plus and minus zoom in and out. The perspective ^ button will toggle 3D mode. If you left click on that button and drag your mouse, you will see the perspective change. You can left click on that button again to return to 2D mode. To move around on the map, you can left click and drag your mouse or right click and drag to change perspective. On a touch interface, you can touch and drag to move, or pinch to zoom, or use two fingers simultaneously to change perspective. There are a variety of other ways to interact similarly, depending on the details of your hardware and OS.

Detailed Navigation tutorial

Windows Users

The map navigation for Windows users can be managed via iMapp user interface buttons, laptop’s touch pad and mouse. For touch screen devices and tablets, the navigation may differ to laptop’s touch pad options. When the difference appears, the instruction below specifies “touchpad” and “touchscreen” navigation options separately.

In general, all options are controlled by common commands, where

  • left-button single click activates the button controls actions, tools and pop-ups display:

  • left-button single click and hold + movement with mouse/with second finger on touch screen to drag and move around the map (for Navigate and Identify mode):

  • mouse wheel or two-fingers single touch and hold on touch pad/touch screen + movement towards each other or up/down to zoom in/out:

  • right-button single click and hold + movement with mouse/with second finger on touch screen to rotate map on 360 degrees or change view perspective (horizontal/vertical):

IMPORTANT:The navigation options may differ depending on the map section you’re working with. Check the details for each map below.
